Watson-Thompson leads one of only five federally-funded national centers of excellence on youth violence prevention, the Youth Violence Prevention Research Center-Kansas City (YVPC-KC).Since the late 1960s, one way that behaviorists have addressed these systemic issues is through a behavioral community approach that has focused on community health and development issues, including those related to socioeconomic conditions (Watson-Thompson et al., 2020).

To round out this new leadership team, Jomella Watson-Thompson will join the Center for Service Learning as the senior faculty associate.
