May 29, 2016 · for a 22re i think the internals are capable of mild boost from both turbos and superchargers, probably in the 10-15 psi and 6-8 psi range, respectively. The benefits of a turbo are that it is not parasitic to the motor, meaning it doesn't use engine power to create boost, and for that reason I would go turbo if possible.
